TITLE: Manager Product Development & Production

NYC BASED: Must be able to commute to office on a weekly basis, hybrid role

REPORTS TO: Director Product Development & Production

Responsibilities Include:

  • Daily communication with factories on all development and production related matters
  • Manages all aspects of development while engaging Design to ensure aesthetic intent
  • Monitor calendars to ensure timeliness of deliverables
  • Maintain fabric and trim library and seasonal material charts
  • Research new materials and suppliers by attending trade shows and setting up meetings with mills to consistently bring new ideas to design
  • Own the seasonal lab dip process and maintain color boards and tools
  • Coordinate with Tech on the sending of development packages, materials, and trims to factories for sample making
  • Manages the timely delivery of samples, mockups and other submits
  • Collect and evaluate costing at Proto, SMS, and bulk stages. Establish target FOBs and ensure IMUs meet or exceed target
  • Manage the bulk production of all styles with Director of PD/Production including tracking of bulk materials in factory and PP/TOP approvals
  • Create and maintain POs in Netsuite system. Ensure accuracy of style descriptions an UPCs
  • Support maintenance of Bill of Materials
  • Review and process all bulk PIs and invoices from factories and record/track payments
  • Monitor and communicate with vendors on Time and Action and Work in Progress docs to ensure on time delivery of bulk 
  • Communicate with cross functional team on production/shipment status, creating visibility for peers and leadership team
  • Review packing lists and shipping docs prior to handing over goods to freight forwarders
  • Assist in the development of new factories, including onboarding and training 
  • Ensure compliance with trade regulations and documentation
  • Determine, verify, and maintain proper HTS codes of each product 
  • Manage and schedule 3rd party bulk inspections including quote approvals and review of reports
  • Create and Maintain vendor manuals for shipping, packaging, and testing
  • Coordinate 3rd party material and garment testing

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in product development, costing, and production
  • Intimates experience a plus as well as factory connections
  • Experience with color approvals and assisting design with material, trim, and supplier resources able to deliver to their taste level 
  • Thorough understanding of fabric, garments, construction, and manufacturing processes
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Willingness to travel overseas to factories as required
  • Ability to proactively trouble shoot and problem solve
  • Advanced computer skills, tech pack and/or BOM building experience, PLM, Microsoft Access, Outlook, Excel
  • Organized and very good follow up skills
  • Clear and thorough understanding of product development and product cycle timelines
